SUN SIGN QUALITIES

The zodiac has 12 signs and these signs are divided into several groups. Theses are the duality, quality and element of the sign.

Duality

This is the duality of masculine and feminine energies. Six signs are masculine and six are feminine. The masculine signs are all fire and air signs. They tend to be outer-directed and strong through action. They do not wait for things to come to them. Feminine signs include all the earth and water signs. They are respective and magnetic in their nature. They are passive and interact with what happens to come their way. They work by a principle of attracting what they desire rather than attempting to go out and conquer it.

Quality

The qualities are separated into three; cardinal, fixed and mutable. The four cardinal signs are Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn. The cardinal signs are initiators, they tend to be open to change and have an emphasis on action. They have a realistic grasp of the immediate situation and its potential for action. Positively expressed these signs can be constructive initiators; negatively expressed they can have busybody tendencies and be thoughtless in their actions.

The four fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. These signs tend to be resistant to change and perfectionists. They are the finishers rather than the originators. There is a great amount of persistence and determination in fixed sign. Their positive attributes are constancy and reliability, the negative aspects are stubbornness and rigidity

The mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. They tend to be more flexible and adaptable. They love to explore mental pursuits and emphasize intellectual activity. Positively expressed these qualities appear as resourcefulness; negatively as worry, neurosis, nervousness and the inability to live in the present.

ELEMENTS

There are four elements: FIRE, EARTH, AIR and WATER. Each one brings specific qualities to the sun sign.

FIRE

Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are fire elements. Individuals born under these signs seek to display leadership in some way. In Aries this is demonstrated through organizing new efforts and endeavors. Leo possess the managerial capacity for acting as the central dramatic figure around which an organization or group of people gather. Sagittarians have the ability to act as spiritual, philosophic leaders in the areas of religion, philosophy, law, or higher education; they are concerned with the ideas around which human society is built. Fire sign individuals are positive, aggressive, creative, and masculine in their expression.

EARTH

The earth signs, Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn, are practical in their nature. These signs are indicative in using and managing the material and financial resources in a practical way in order to make daily life possible.

Taurus has the ability to accumulate and manage money. Virgo’s practicality is seen as intelligence and skill in labor and constructing the material objects. Capricorns have the practical ability to organize and manage vast business and government enterprises as well as the ability to structure and organize daily business affairs.

AIR

The air element consists of the signs Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. They are communicative and social in nature. Air signs have strong mental abilities and intellectual attributes. In Gemini, this intellectualism is evident in the ability to acquire, utilize and communicate information and reorganize the ideas within it. In Libra, these qualities are manifested as the ability to weigh and balance, and make comparisons. They have a social awareness which leads to psychology and related disciplines. In Aquarius intellectuality is expressed as an intuitive grasp of universal principles, along with a concern for the universal well being of humanity.

WATER
