Most of our beliefs about angels come from our religious teachings and I believe it is one of personal faith.  We need to be aware that science may never be able to prove or disprove the existence or activities of angels.  It is through faith, being open and loving God that we feel the angels and accept their existence. 

There are many religions that believe in angels.  The Jewish and Christian faiths have many different references to angels.  Greek, Egyptian, and Roman mythology feature many winged creatures like Zeus, Jupiter, Horus and Mercury.  The pagan religions in Scotland and Ireland believe in angels and fairies, who are part of the angelic hierarchy.  

Angel means messenger in Greek and Hebrew and it means “one sent” or “one going” in Latin. They are thought of as the messengers between the God and humans. Because of our ego we experience ourselves as being separate from God and the angels are here to help us bridge this gap.  These Angelic Hosts are active, creative Intelligence’s and are the form builders of creation.  (i.e. cocreators with God) From the beginning they put Gods ONE Will into action with their unceasing love and devotion for both God and all the beings God created.

Angels were created in the beginning just as we were, many think that they came from God the same time.  However, they were created for a far different role, to help us and other beings evolve.  They are all love because they do not know anything else; many feel that they have not been human.

Many call St. Thomas Aquinas the angelic doctor because he was inspired to study and uncover the nature, activities and moral state of angels.  He would use the nature of the angels to illuminate the nature of human awareness by referring to angels as the extreme of what is possible for an intellectual nature to be.

St. Thomas Aquinas gives an argument that the perfection of the universe requires the existence of intellectual creatures.  Since God intends the good for His creation, he intends that it be like himself.  Effect is like its cause and it shares with it the feature whereby it was caused, God’s creation must contain something with intellect and will since that is how God creates, i.e. by first knowing it and loving it into being.

St. Aquinas states that angels are intellectual creatures, they must be pure in spirit, i.e. self-subsistent forms.  That they are completely incorporeal; they are in no way material and have no bodies of any kind. 

Angels are not merely ethereal, vaporous kinds of material things nor are they the souls of deceased humans.  They are pure intellect and they know things in a way that is (almost) completely alien to how humans act and know.  This is sufficient to show that angels are not separated souls and one cannot identify them with souls of our deceased relatives and friends.  (talk about the difference between the two 

The bible and stories we have heard throughout the ages have stated that angels sometimes assume bodies.  They do not receive enjoyment from the senses of humans and they appear as human to help a situation or person.  In a human form they will be easily accepted and can walk among man unnoticed. 

NINE ORDERS OF ANGELS

St. Dionysius the Aeropagite wrote down what his teacher, the Apostle Paul, told him of what he learned during his vision of the third heaven(2Cor 12:2).  This was the angelic hierarchy that is widely accepted by Christians and Angelology.

The nine orders of the angles are divided into three hierarchies, each of which is divided into three orders:  the highest, the intermediate and the lower.

The first hierarchy, the highest and closest to God and the ones that contemplate God’s Goodness consists of the Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones.

The Seraphim’s task, being the closest to God, is to sing in perpetual adoration of God. Because their knowledge of God is so great, they inspire mankind with that quality.  In the biblical accounts of human’s visions of God they describe Gods glory and how God is surrounded by countless multitudes of Angels.

They are described as being fire like because they are literally living flames of pure love of God.  They are aflame with love for God and kindle others to such love, as shown by the name Seraphim, which in Hebrew translates to serpents, which means to burn up, or flaming.  “…I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and his train filled the temple.  Above him stood the seraphim; each had six wings: two covered his face and with two he covered his feet and with two he flew.” (Isaiah 6:1-3)  “And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within and day and night they never cease to sing ‘Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God almighty who was and is and is to come!” (Rev 4:8) 

The Cherubim are said to be four in number with many subordinates fulfilling the LAW according to cause and effect.  They radiate the Light and knowledge of God and the depths of His Wisdom, being enlightened, they enlighten others.  They are the first angels encountered in the Old Testament, in the Book of Genesis, in the east of Eden to ensure that no one entered after the expulsion of Adam and Eve.  Their task is to sing the praises of God and maintain the records of heaven and seeing to the details to keep order in the heavenly Host. 

They are described in Ezekiel’s encounter as possessing four wings and four faces symbolizing their eternal vigilance and knowledge.  They are also thought of as having many eyes in reference to their all-seeing omniscience 

Call upon the Wisdom and knowledge of the Cherubim when having difficulties in your life.

The Thrones carry out or fulfill the divine justice of the Lord.  They are humble with no ego, which allows them to dispense justice with perfect objectivity.  “Thou hast sat upon a throne, O Thou that judges righteousness” (Ps 9:4)

The Thrones contemplate the glory and equity of the divine judgments and teach man to rule with justice.  They are also responsible for inspiring the great nations and their leaders to unselfishly serve their nation and if they do so their power will increase.  If the have selfish interests the angelic inspiration will be withdrawn. 

Thrones are often called “wheels” because it is said they were actual wheels of the Lord’s chariot.  “The four wheels had rims and they had spokes and their rims were full of eyes round about.  The wheel also represents the wheel of life or karma.  They are also referred to as “many eyed ones”. 

Utilize the Thrones when in need of divine justice or karmic issues in your life 

The middle hierarchy consists of three orders, the Dominions the Virtues and the Powers.  This group presides over the ordering of the Universe.

The Dominions, or sometimes called the Dominations, regulate the activities and duties of the angels below them.  Through them the very order of the universe is maintained and they handle the details of cosmic life and existence, designating tasks to the lower orders of angels.  They serve God with joy and teach humans how to control the senses, how to subdue desires and passions, how to rule over one’s will and be above all temptations. 

One would use the Dominions to help one overcome their vices and desires.

The Virtues, which in the old meaning was power or force, their heavenly gift is to work miracles and send that gift to saints and divine beings in human form. They also strengthen man in patience so he can bear misfortune with a strong spirit, giving thanks for everything to God. 

Call upon the Virtues for strength during difficult times and when you need the power of God behind you.

The Powers are thought of as defenders of the cosmos against all evil and maintainers of all cosmic order.  They are the guardians of the heavenly path, policing the routes to and from heaven.  They are here to assist each soul to overcome the temptations they face and instead to do proper action. 

Utilize the Powers whenever your ego takes over 

The lowest order of the hierarchy is the Principalities, the Archangels and the Angels.  These are the closest to humans and they have dominion over human affairs.

The Principalities, also called princedoms and princes, govern the angels below them.  They preside over peoples and provinces and serve as angelic rulers of the nations of the world.  They manage the universe and kingdoms and lands and all peoples, races and nations.  When they receive permission from the higher Angels (who in turn get permission from God) they will become directly involved in the affairs of humanity.  They use their incalculable strength of heaven to move the hearts and minds of those mortals with whom they have direct contact. 

Call upon the Principalities when you want to use your own power for the good of humankind.

The Archangels are the messengers of good news and are mentioned often in this new age as well as the Old and New Testament.  They carry out God’s will as it relates directly to humanity.  They reveal prophecies, knowledge and understanding of God’s will which they receive from the higher orders of angels and announce to the lower order and through them to man.  They also bring to the world the prayerful blessings of the Lord and are said to intervene regularly in the affairs of humans.  Archangels are among the few angelic beings mentioned specifically by name in the Old and New Testament.  Letter to Jude (1:9 “But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, disputed about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a reviling judgment upon him but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you.’”  

Many of us call upon the archangels for healing and to overcome the ego driven desires within us 

The Angels are the last order and the closest to man.  They announce the lesser mysteries and intentions of God and teach people to live with God in their heart.  They appointed to guard each of us who believe and ask for help and guidance.  The guardian angel is the angelic being supposedly assigned not only to every living soul but also to places, churches, and even nations.  They proclaimed the birth of Christ and spoke to Abraham, Moses and many other prophets in the Old Testament. 

These angels are here to help humans evolve so call on them for any needs (not wants) you have.

All of the orders are called by the common name angels because angel is not a denomination of essence but of service.  “Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister”(Heb 1:14).  Each order has its own service and in the book of the Prophet Zachariah it is said that one angel, after conversing with the prophet, met another angel who ordered him to go again to the prophet and reveal the future fate of Jerusalem (Zach 2:3-5).  The same thing is said in the prophecy of Daniel.  From this it is evident that angels of higher orders reveal the divine will and intention of their Creator to angels of the lower orders, that they enlighten them and send them to people. 

How to utilize the angels.

We have talked about what angels do; they rescue, protect, bring us messages from God, fight our battles and carry out God’s Will and help you in your daily life. 

The most important thing I can give you today is to ask your angels for help and guidance.  You have free will and they cannot intervene unless asked directly by you, your soul or God.  The Angelic realm was created to be of service to all sentient beings.  They are to impart the Will and Love of God to all. 

They want to be utilized and appreciated!!  Ask them to help with the sale of your house, for a car that runs smoothly, they can do all those things and more.  You are not bothering them when you ask for a small favor, they are happy to help.  Does this mean you can ask them to help with something that is negative?  You can ask but you may not get the result you are expecting.  If your favor is small like a parking spot on Dec. 24 at the mall it will probably happen.  Know that the Love of God is within and when you ask something from that space it is received from that space. 

How to commune with the angels.

The first thing to do is to just ask for the angels to help, talk to you or surround you.  There is no special way to ask but if you want specific messages it may help to get into a meditative state or to use a divination tool.  If you are looking for help with a specific problem you must surrender it to God and release it so you don’t put any negative energy into it. 

One must also follow through on the advice given or messages received.  If you are told to forgive a person who has hurt you and you do not the issue cannot be resolved.  God does expect us to take an active role in our own lives.  One cannot sit and say, “God take care of my problems while I watch Oprah and when it is over it will all be gone.”

The angels want to help you with your relationships.  Ask them to heal a problem or help you forgive someone in your life that needs forgiving.  My belief is that if you are holding a grudge against someone who is it really hurting?  Do you think that it hurts them?  A part of you wants it to hurt them but it is really hurting only you.  The angels want us to do more forgiving of others and our own trespasses so we can evolve. 

They are useful in helping us keep our train of thought in a positive direction.  Your thought patterns create your life around you and they can work with you to help you keep your thoughts more positive. 

Ask them to help with anything but be careful what you ask for. 

I love to use angels to protect my house and belongings.  I have an angel who regularly rides on top of my car and watches over my children and myself.  During storms I ask that they protect my yard and my neighbor’s trees from falling on homes, boats and play sets.  I also ask that four angels surround my property and house to protect it from negative energies.  I feel the most safe when I know that the angels are there to guide and protect me. 

Healing Angels

The angels want you to be healthy and happy.  They are here to facilitate your well being.  Angels will encourage you to eat healthy diets and to stay away from stimulants like sugar and caffeine.  They will ask you to exercise your mind and your body regularly.  When I really wanted to start a regular exercise routine I asked for the “exercise angel’s” help.  Every night before I went to bed I would ask them to help me wake up at 5:30 so I could get up and run.  I also asked them to help me be motivated to exercise in the morning and to eat healthier. 

You can also ask them to help you get a good night sleep.  Ask them to tell you what is making you wake up at night and then ask them to help you release it or fix the problem.  They will help you heal both physical and mental issues but you may have to help them. 

A lot of people pray when they have a problem.  We feel you should definitely pray to God.  We are not saying that the angels are God or that we should worship them.  They only ask that you say thank you and please, just as you would do for anyone that you respect.  They are not interested in the glory for themselves; everything they do is in service to God and His creations.  This does not mean that you cannot pray to God and the angels because they may be able to help God with the action that will be taken on your behalf. 

Because they are co creators with God they can create any situation in someone’s life is that is Gods will.  The person they are helping needs to take an active role in the miracle.  Once the angels have intervened for us things seem to flow very easily.

Sometimes when I am hearing information for the first time I will feel a chill.  Many people state that it is a chill that constitutes truth in the statement.  Whenever I am around people talking about angels I get that chill.  I know that they exist and I love to utilize them whenever possible.
